God, he wanted to know what it was.
What would open her to him, to prompt that smile again and again?"

Copyright Infringement: Revamping My Blog

I stopped by my favorite blog, The Sound of Rain, to check out Natalie's latest post and was shocked and saddened to read about her decision to cease her Man Candy Monday posts.  Her decision wasn't an easy one, as you can imagine.  It all started when Natalie came across this post by Roni Loren.  In the post Roni revealed how she was sued over the past few months for using a photo on her blog that did not belong to her.  It was a simple, innocent mistake.  She did exactly what I would've done in the same situation - took down the photo when notified by the photographer - but the person went ahead and sued Roni.  She had to obtain lawyers and it cost her a lot of money to resolve the matter.

Hard to believe, I know, but it's the truth.  I can only imagine the horror Roni endured during this unfortunate turn of events.  I applaud her for being so forthcoming about her ordeal with the blogging community.  I'd also like to thank Natalie for sharing this news on her blog.  It's been an eyeopener for me.  It's highly unlikely that what happened to Roni would happen to me.  However, as Roni pointed out in her post, there is the chance.  I'm not willing to take the risk.  I hope you understand.

So like Natalie, I've decided to cease my "hottie of the week" posts.  Going forward I'll cease my Super SEXY Saturday posts and mass delete all of these posts.  It saddens me to do so.  But I don't have the time to check the copyright on all of the photos I use for these posts.   I will also be deleting some of the fashion photos I've posted.  I will continue to do my historical fashion posts.  However, in the future I will likely only be posting pictures found on movie posters or screen captures.  I will also be going through all of my posts this weekend and will delete all of the necessary photos.

For some time now I've wanted to update my blog to better reflect the genre I write in.  This whole copyright infringement business has given me the opportunity to start making changes.  They will be slow going, at first.  With any luck I'll have a new blog look and header this fall.

"I love a novel...The picture on the cover.  And I like glancing up at books on my shelves.  They're rather like old acquaintances."

It's My Party And I'll Wear What I Want To

Spinning Their Wheels

In 1745 the Boston Society for Promoting Industry and Frugality's annual event attracted three hundred young women to the Boston Common, where yarn spinning was the major activity of the weekend.

Spinning, however, was traditionally a lonely activity.  A woman who sat in front of a loom all day to spin was, approrpiratlely enough, called a spinster.  Use of the spinning wheel declined markedly in the 19th century, when the automatic loom was introduced. Paradoxically, the number of spinsters was reported to rise.

Going Coastal

My hubby and I, along with our Doxies and my BFF, are off to the Oregon coast today.  We're going to spend the rest of the week with my big sis and her family...at the beach, at the aquarium, and on a sea cruise.  I'm sure we'll see a lighthouse or two while we're there and, of course, hang out at the beach (if the weather is good).

However you plan to spend the July 4th holiday, enjoy!

July Releases

Happy Summer!!!!

I'm officially on my summer break!  Whoo-hoo!!!!  Can you tell I'm excited?!  I AM!  Why?  Because I loathe my day job and the fact that I get to take time off in July makes me giddy as a kid on Christmas morning.   My hubby, BFF, and I are headed to the Oregon coast on Tuesday to visit my big sis and her family.  We plan to take a 2-hour sea cruise, visit the local aquarium, and have a cookout on the beach.  I cannot wait for the fun times to begin!

When I return home I intend to relax, read, write, and soak up some sunshine on my lawn chair, weather permitting.  So here are the books that I'd like to get my hands on this month:

I've yet to read the first books in either one of these series, but I'd really like to because 1) I ♥ both of these authors and 2) all of the books sound like amazing reads.

Feels like I've been waiting forever for the release of Tiger Lily, the YA novel based on characters from Peter Pan.  I can't wait to read this book!

Michelle Willingham is one of my all-time favorite authors, so you can bet I'll be purchasing her book ASAP!  Hands down this is her hottest cover yet, IMO.

I enjoyed Callihan's debut, Firelight, and look forward to reading the second installment in her Darkest London paranormal historical romance series.
I'm a big fan of Kris Kennedy's medievals.  I cannot wait to read Deception

I read the reviews for both of these YA novels in RT Book Reviews magazine, and immediately added them to my must-read list.  Team Human seems like a highly original book, and Pride's Run sounds as if it'll be a hard-to-put-down read.

What's on your must-read list this month?
