Promise him anything but let him kiss your Aqua Toffana if you're not planning on coming through. 


The makeup made of liquid arsenic created by Signora Toffana in 1625 is said to be responsible for the deaths of over six hundred husbands.

Less dangerous, but still daunting, was sulama, the herb Greek women of the 1600's used on their faces to give them a red glow. One man reported that breathing on a sulama-faced seductress after he'd eaten cloves turned her skin yellow.
